    We have one generation of Cowley surname which is Henry Cowley, b. ca 1740. Our Henry Cowley's father was either John or William Cooley, b. ca 1740 and his children went back to the Cooley name about 1813, at the death of Henry. Our Henry Cowley married Mary Shannon about 1780 and started their family. Their first son was John Cowley/Cooley. In 1779 there is a John Cooly and our Henry Cowley (single) living as inhabitants of York/Adams Co. Pennsylvania. I think William or John may have been born in MD. Bobbie
